ISM2006 – Plasticity of Metallic Materials – FEM Abaqus

INTRODUCTION

In this entry, we present the usual ways of modelling the non-linear behaviour of metallic materials (plasticity with isotropic hardening) in engineering projects, and their use with the Finite Element software Abaqus. All the concepts presented are based on the uniaxial tensile test, which is widely used to determine the basic mechanical properties of the material, and which are those found in the main materials databases such as MMPDS-06.

CONTENTS

Strength parameters of metallic materials, guide to modelling non-linear behaviour with Abaqus, post-processing of non-linear analysis with plasticity, example of application, calculation tool in Excel of the Ramberg-Osgood curve and automatic generation of the inputs to define the material in Abaqus.
